Lecanora flavidofusca Müll.Arg.
     
  Bull. Herb. Boissier 3: 633 (1895)). T: Qld, 1887, C.Knight; lecto: G, fide H.T.Lumbsch, G.B.Feige & J.A.Elix, Bryologist 98: 567 (1995).  
     
  Thallus verrucose to verruculose, yellowish grey to greenish grey, epruinose. Soredia absent. Prothallus not visible. Apothecia sessile, 0.5–1.0 mm diam.; disc red-brown to dark brown, epruinose; margin concolorous with the thallus, thin, smooth, entire. Cortex hyaline, inspersed with small crystals, 10–20 µm thick. Amphithecium with large and small crystals (melacarpella-type); small crystals rapidly dissolving in KOH. Parathecium hyaline, c. 15 µm thick, with numerous small crystals insoluble in KOH. Epihymenium reddish brown, c. 10–15 µm thick, with numerous small crystals; pigmentation and crystals soluble in KOH (pulicaris-type). Hymenium, subhymenium and hypothecium hyaline. Paraphyses sparingly branched and not thickened apically. Ascospores ellipsoidal, 11.5–16.5 × 5.5–7.5 µm. CHEMISTRY: Thallus and apothecial margin K+ yellow, C+ orange, Pd+ yellow; containing arthothelin (major), atranorin (major), zeorin (major), chloroatranorin (minor), 2,5-dichloro-norlichexanthone (minor), 4,5-dichloronorlichexanthone (minor), usnic acid (major) and an unknown terpene.
     
  Occurs in eastern Qld and eastern N.S.W.; a corticolous species that grows on a wide variety of phorophytes in exposed situations. Also in New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, the Caribbean and South America.
